2023
Most of my studio time in 2023 was spent constructing this folded drawing, yes, and, also (15" x 127", ink and gouache on paper). I began this in 2021, intending to make a horizontal scroll for the exhibition Carried Through the Water. After a few weeks, I put the drawing away as it wasn't coming together. I often stash drawings and prints that I am frustrated with and then revisit them a while later and begin again. I worked away at the drawing, thinking about past, present, and future as built the surface, folded it, and then drew on the other side.
yes, and, also is somewhere between a drawing, a book, and a sculpture, meant to be displayed on a table or shelf, impossible to ever see completely as parts will always be hidden.
